- Does Alabama Require an Adjuster License? Yes. No adjuster licensing exam is required to obtain the Albama adjuster's license; however, you must be either employed by a licensed adjuster or have sufficient experience demonstrating your competency as an adjuster. No continuing education (CE) credits are required to maintain your Alabama adjuster's license. The Alabama adjuster's license expires after one year.
- Does Alabama Reciprocate with the Texas Adjuster License? Yes, Alabama will reciprocate with the Texas adjuster's license.
- Are there any restrictions? Alabama does not require you to hold an adjuster license in your own home state of residence in order to reciprocate with your Texas adjuster license.
- What are the Requirments? Individuals must:
- Be 19 years of age or more.
- Be a full-time salaried employee of a licensed adjuster or a graduate of a recognized law school or must have experience or special education or training in the handling of loss claims under insurance contracts of sufficient duration and reasonable extent to make him or her competent to fulfill the responsibilities of an adjuster.

Non-Residents:There are two different initial licensing processes. Online thru NIPR and online thru SBS.
NIPR Mandatory Online Process is for those non-resident applicants who do hold any type of resident license in their home state. Applicant must apply online. Click Here.
SBS Mandatory Online Process is for those non-resident applicants whose home state, as listed below, does not license adjusters orwho do not hold any other type of license in their home state. These states do not license Independent Adjusters (CO, DC, IA, IL, KS, MA, MD, MO, ND, NE, NJ, OH, PA, SD, TN, VA, and WI).

Adjuster Renewal ProcessAdjuster licenses are renewed biennially. Adjusters are allowed to renew their license online 45 days prior to their birth month until the last day of their birth month, with a renewal fee of $80. If your license is not renewed by the last day of the birth month, the license is given a 30 day grace period with a $40.00 late fee plus the $80.00 renewal fee.
Beginning January, 2014 continuing education is required for the independent adjuster license renewal as per the new Adjuster law (Act 2011-637) that went into effect January 1, 2012. Independent Adjusters will be required to complete 24 CE hours of which 3 should be in ethics.
